Text in original language:
Dear friend,
I have the pleasure to be the first (I think) to tell you that your Symphony (Op. 76) was splendidly played yesterday, and very warmly received. I send you my programme-notice, and would add that, though it had to be done in a hurry and without having heard a rehearsal, I have nothing to retract, but could easily add much to it. You will gather from it that I am among those who wish that your next Symphony may be a real “Bohemian” one, from A to Z. The last movement, without undervaluing the others, is a grand inspiration, with in matter and form[!]1
Manns will write to you soon.
Yours ever truly
C.A.Barry
