My dear Herr Dvorak You will remember before you left Birmingham I spoke to you about composing a great sacred Oratorio which should occupy the whole of one morning at the Festival of 1888. You promised me to think over a subject. I shall be very much obliged to you if you will now tell me whether you will undertake to compose this great oratorio for 1888, and also what the subject will be.
