Dear Sir,
Through Messrs Novello & Co. we have been in communication with you as to the production of a new work of yours at our Festival in September 1895. Our Council were greatly gratified to hear that you had kindly promised that we should have such a work and hope to be also favoured by your personal attendance to conduct it. May we ask you to kindly say if you are likely to be in England shortly and if so if you would allow us the pleasure of an interview in order that we may have the advantage of knowing your wishes as to the arrangements for the performance of the work. And may we also ask you if you are able to give us any further information as to the nature of the proposed work and when it could be ready for rehearsal by our Festival Chorus which will be formed shortly under Sir Joseph Barnby’s personal supervision.
Faithfully yours,
Walter Scott, E. W. Waite
