Jan 19. 1885 My dear Dr. Dvořák Enclosed I have the pleasure to send a cheque for 250£ for the Birmingham Cantata which I propose to call “The Spectre’s Bride”. Will you kindly sign the paper sent herewith in the places marked and return it to me. A small society but with very good chorus and orchestra wishes to perform your “Hymnus” during March (when you are here) at St. Francis Hall: the director would very much like you to conduct but cannot afford to pay very much: they offer ten guineas and I hope you will be able to accept as it would be a great advantage for you to conduct the work at its first performance. With very kind regards I am, Yours most sincerely Alfred Littleton
