Text in original language:
My dear Friend I am sorry to hear that you cannot accept our offer for your Requiem - what is to be done? Shall I send the M[anu]S[cript] back to you. The most we can give you is £ 650 for the copyright for all countries and the Birmingham Committee will give you one hundred guineas for the first performance and your fee for conducting. The Birmingham committee consider that you have promised them the first performance and also that you will conduct. This is referred to in several of your letters to me. They want copies very soon for Rehearsal so there is no time to be lost. If you wish us to do anything please let me know by return and much obliged. Yours very sincerely Alfred H Littleton
Annotation:
