Text in original language:
My dear friend I have been asked by the Committee of one of our Festivals (a very good one) which takes place in the Autumn of 1895 to inquire whether you would be willing to write an Oratorio for them. I shall be very glad if you can do this and as they give you plenty of notice, I hope there will be no difficulty. The only condition they make is that the subject would be from the Bible. I hope you are getting on splendidly in the States and that you and Mrs. Dvořák are enjoying your stay in New York: you have not had time to write to me since you have been there but I hope to hear from you some day. With all good wishes from all here to you, Mrs Dvořák + family I am Yours very sincerely Alfred H Littleton
Annotation:
asks if AD would compose an oratorio for the festival in Cardiff in 1895, recommends a Biblical theme
