Description:
Photographic head-and-shoulders portrait of Antonín Dvořák, left half profile. Full beard, hair combed back. Dark patterned woven suit with dark waistcoat and a lighter-coloured broad stock tie with decorative pin, white shirt with stand-up collar.
Handwritten annotations:
In pen, along the bottom edge of the photograph (in Czech): “A portrait my brother Ant. gave me before leaving for America Jos. Dvořák”.
Note:
With the exception of the substantially retouched pupils, extremely pale emulsion, partly abraded.
