My dear Sir,
I have just heard from our friend Mr. Alfred H Littleton that you have consented to write a new “Requiem” for the Birmingham Festival of 1891. On behalf of the Committee I beg to thank you most sincerely for so kindly agreeing to their request and to assure you that no effort shall be wanting on our part to ensure a perfect rendering of the work. I hope that I may have the pleasure of renewing our acquaintance when you next visit England.
I am
Yours very truly
