My dear Friend We have very carefully considered the question of the amount we can give you for your new work and have been obliged to come to the conclusion that as a Requiem cannot in any case have a very large sale or become really popular it is impossible for us to give you a larger price than that named in my last letter. I am sure that you will believe that this is really the case and shall be glad to hear that you accept the offer as time is now getting short.
