Our London House writes to us under date of May 30th. as follows: “We are favoured by your letter of the 19th. Inst, also the vocal score of Dr. Dvorak’s “American Flag” and have given the same our careful consideration. As the Dr. is not disposed to part with any of the seven works separately, and requires L. 600. for them as a whole, we regret we are unable to pay him that sum, as we should only care to publish the two vocal works, namely “The American Flag” and the “Te Teum”. There is therefore no alternative but for us to return you the MS. of the “American Flag” and we have forwarded the same to you by this mail under another cover, registered. The “Te Deum” is not non-copyright in this country, as you are doubtless aware, and could therefore be reprinted by anyone.”
