Dear Dr. Dvořák
Some short time ago Mr Alfred Littleton wrote to you on behalf of the Festival Committee asking if you would compose a work for their Festival which was to take place in September 1895. This Committee having been told by us that you are now at work on a new Cantata, have asked us to write and say that they hope you will allow them to perform that work for the first time.
If you are able to agree to this, the Committee are prepared to offer you a fee of one hundred guineas, if you would undertake to conduct the first performance of the Cantata at this Festival.
The Festival is held at Cardiff, and is under the general direction of Sir Joseph Barnby.
Trusting to be favoured with an early reply
We are
Yours faithfully
