Dear Sir,

Our next Festival will take place, we hope, in October of 1905. The Committee would be exceedingly pleased if you would undertake to write a sacred choral work (to occupy half a concert0 for that occasion, and they will be glad to hear from you, as to whether you will do so, upon what terms as to remuneration, and as to whether you could let us have the work ready for rehearsal in January 1905. While, as we have said, the Committee very much wish to have a work from you for the next Festival, if you cannot see your way to have it ready by them, would you undertake to write us a work for a subsequent occasion.
