Nov 24. 90 My dear Herr Dvořák! You write such lovely English, that I will cease my bad German! I received your letter last night, after my second letter was posted to you. From it you will see that the date will be June 15 or 16 (not 10). Today I hear from Beale that the Birmingham Festival is not until October 6. But they are anxious for you to hear a chorus rehearsal in June, so our date and their rehearsal would fit well. Also the time for giving you your degree will most probably be Tuesday June 16. After that it is ‘Ferein Zeit’ until the middle of October and there are no days for degree -giving. But if you are this obliged to come twice, that is all the more reason that you should allow us the honour of defraying your expenses. But do please arrange to come for June 15 + 16. It is lovely here then, sun + trees + everything at their best. You will understand that I have to arrange at once about the orchestra and soloists, and to tell Madame Albani (who is very busy). So send me, please, a postcard saying if you will come definitely for June 15 and 16. Later on you will tell me about the Soprano Scene and which Symphony you prefer. Yours most truly C.V.Stanford
