Description:
A photographic reproduction by František Tvrz (photographer at the National Museum in Prague). The original photograph is from Robert White Thrupp’s photographic studio in Birmingham and shows a half-figure portrait of Antonín Dvořák in a dark suit with a waistcoat. The jacket is long and made of velvet. White shirt and dark neckerchief with fine dots in place of a tie. A folding pince-nez is worn around the neck and a pocket watch fastened to the waistcoat by a chain. Hair combed back, full beard.
Handwritten annotations:
On the obverse, copy of a handwritten dedication from Dvořák himself around the photograph: “To my friend Rudolf Veselý | Antonín Dvořák”. On the reverse, in pencil (in Czech): “Ant. Dvořák in 1885”.
