There was an article in the Vienna paper “The Tagblatt” - headed “News from Prague” - which referred to your engagement with the National Conservatory of Music - stating that you had accepted it. The item was copied in the New York Herald on January 22nd, and a reporter was sent to interview me.

As the news could only have come through you or your friends in Prague, and agreed, with what Miss Margulies reported about your intentions. I was obliged to confirm the statement.

I have mailed you the Herald - also, cabled you - to guard you against inquiries from enemies.
