Description:
A postcard with a printed reproduction of a photograph. The members of the “Dvořák Trio” – an ensemble created for the goodbye tour that took place prior to Dvořák’s departure for New York in 1892 – in a studio with two decorated bamboo chairs. Ferdinand Lachner sits on the left, Antonín Dvořák stands in the centre with a cigar in his hand, and Hanuš Wihan sits on the right. All wearing fairly dark suits and hats. On the obverse, at the bottom, a printed inscription (in Czech): “Dvořák’s trio in 1892. Prof. Ferd. Lachner, Ant. Dvořák, Prof. Hanuš Wihan”.
Handwritten annotations:
On the reverse, in pencil: “Lachner, Dvořák, Wihan”.
Note:
Published by Zikmund Reach, Prague I. 9 Skořepka Street. This was the company’s address until 1918. In 1892, Reach did also take photographs, but he didn’t specialise in portraits.
